SPOP is often called upon to provide training in geriatric mental health care for staff members of New York City senior centers and sites, including senior residences and other locations where seniors gather or live. SPOP workshops are free and are conducted at the host organizations. Workshops teach the specifics of how to recognize mental illness in older adults and how to make a referral. Training is generally offered in two sessions and can be tailored to the specific needs of the senior site. A typical two-part training program can include: Workshop I
